CIRCLE HEALTH TO SPONSOR MRT’S 2016-17 SEASON
Longtime production sponsor increases support of the region’s professional theatre
Lowell, MA – Circle Health, a Merrimack Valley-based health care system anchored by Lowell General Hospital, has committed to supporting Merrimack Repertory Theatre as its 2016-17 Season sponsor.
As the 2016-17 Season sponsor at MRT, Circle Health demonstrates its commitment to its community with its leadership support of the region’s only professional theatre. Their sponsorship significantly impacts MRT’s entire 2016-17 Season, which is made up of seven productions, including four world premieres, and which will feature nationally- and regionally-renowned theatre artists. With the support of Circle Health, MRT will continue to produce theatre at the highest levels that attracts national attention while enhancing the cultural landscape of the Greater Lowell area.
Circle Health is the collaboration of Lowell General Hospital, Circle Home, Lowell Community Health Center and more than 700 physicians across Greater Lowell. Circle Health, and Lowell General Hospital before it, has supported MRT by sponsoring one of its mainstage productions since the theatre’s 2008-09 Season.
MRT Executive Director Elizabeth Kegley remarked, "We're thrilled to have Circle Health as our 2016-17 Season sponsor, after many great years as a production sponsor. Their commitment to supporting the cultural landscape of this region, and specifically MRT, is remarkable, and we're so glad to have them as a partner."
“We are proud to pledge our support to Merrimack Repertory Theatre as the 2016-17 Season sponsor,” said Norm Deschene, CEO of Circle Health and Lowell General Hospital. “In its nearly 40 year history, MRT has established itself as a cornerstone of Lowell’s vibrant culture. I believe our organizations share many common values, none more so than a commitment to consistently meet and exceed the expectations of the residents of the Merrimack Valley.”
Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) has been Merrimack Valley’s professional theatre company since 1979, and is an integral part of Lowell’s identity as the cultural heart of the region. The company is known for its high production standards and for creating compelling new plays and regional premieres that reflect the lives and emotions of its audiences. MRT is one of just three theatres in Massachusetts that is a member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), which has 72 members nationwide.
