MERRIMACK REPERTORY THEATRE CONTINUES LIBRARY PARTNERSHIPS

Discount passes available from nineteen area libraries

Lowell, MA – Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) announces the continuation of its Library Pass program in the 2015-16 Season, which now includes libraries in Groton and Burlington. Cardholders at libraries in the Merrimack Valley and beyond can access discount passes to every production at the region’s only professional theatre. The program underscores MRT’s ongoing commitment to putting the Greater Lowell community at the center of its work, presenting vibrant contemporary plays and musicals in ways that are accessible to all.

Passes are easy to use and can be checked out anywhere from a month ahead of time, to the day of the performance. The pass secures a $10 discount on up to six tickets per show—an up to $420 value over the course of the season. Participating libraries can also coordinate group visits to performances at MRT, turning a night of theatre into a community event.

The growing network of participants includes nineteen libraries in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. They are (alphabetically by town):

Memorial Hall Library (Andover)
Billerica Public Library
Burlington Public Library
Chelmsford Public Library
Dunstable Public Library
Parker Library (Dracut)
Groton Public Library
Lawrence Public Library
Reuben Hoar Library (Littleton)
Pollard Memorial Library (Lowell)
Nevins Memorial Library (Methuen)
Flint Public Library (Middleton)
Nashua Public Library, New Hampshire
Reading Public Library
Kelley Library (Salem, New Hampshire)
Topsfield Town Library
Lucius Beebe Memorial Library (Wakefield)
J.V. Fletcher Library (Westford)
Winchester Public Library

MRT has offered the program in the past, but usage has grown dramatically in the last year as the passes have become easier to use and word has spread about MRT’s emergence as one of the nation’s great theatre centers.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) has been Merrimack Valley’s professional theatre company since 1979, and is an integral part of Lowell’s identity as the cultural heart of the region. The company is known for its high production standards and for creating compelling new plays and regional premieres that reflect the lives and emotions of its audiences. MRT is one of just three theatres in Massachusetts that is a member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), which has 72 members nationwide.
