Young Actor Liaison

Job title: Youth Actor Liaison for “A CHRISTMAS CAROL”
Reports to Production Manager / Stage Manager

Job purpose

The Youth Actor Liaison for Merrimack Repertory Theater’s production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL works closely with the production team to ensure the safety and engagement of the 10 youth performers during all rehearsals and performances.

Duties and responsibilities

Production
• Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of 10 child actors while on premises.
• Develop and maintain a friendly, supportive and professional relationship with the children.
• Be aware of and manage any health issues as communicated by the parents, i.e. special diets, medicine, etc.
• Accompany the youth performers wherever they go when on the premises from when they arrive until they leave with an approved adult.
• Help clarify the production’s expectations for performance and behavior to the child actors
• When off-stage, ensure children are appropriately entertained while maintaining awareness for cues and announcements.

Community and Interdepartmental:
• Work with leadership to create and sustain a thriving organizational and workplace culture, ensuring transparency on culture-related expectations.
• Commit to fostering a workplace culture that infuses practices of anti-racism and equity into its everyday practices as well as its core principles.
• Be a role model for the organization in incorporating equity into all interactions with guest artists and community partners, centering their voices and acknowledging the different aspects of their cultural needs that may differ from established practice.

Other duties as assigned within reason or with adequate compensation.

Qualifications

• CPR Certified
• Experience and enjoyment working with elementary age children
• General understanding of theater, experience working in theatre a plus
• Responsible and capable of administering to the health needs of children if needed
• Current driver’s license
• Full COVID vaccination (including booster, if eligible)

Working conditions

This position requires regular nights and weekends.
