Director of Development

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) seeks a Director of Development to join our team. Located in Lowell, MA and dedicated to new works, MRT produces a season of seven plays from September through May. MRT is also committed to education and community engagement. The Director of Development is responsible for $1.5 million in contributed income. She/he/they creates and executes a comprehensive development strategy including individual and Trustee giving, foundation relations, government funding, and corporate support. The director works closely with the executive director and artistic director, and is a member of the senior staff. S/he/they serves as a key point of contact for Trustees, major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation partners. The ideal candidate will highly motivated with front-line fundraising experience and a track record of creating successful development programs. Development Assistant

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) seeks a part time Development Assistant (25-30 hours per week) to join our team. Located in Lowell, MA and dedicated to new works, MRT produces a season of seven plays from September through May. MRT is also committed to education and community engagement. The development assistant is responsible for providing general support for the development department. The primary tasks of this role include daily gift processing, mail merges, database and financial reporting, list pulls, RSVP tracking, and special event support.

The assistant works closely with the development manager and director of development, and is an integral member of the development department.

S/he/they serves as a key point of contact for office visitors, internal staff, individual donors, and corporate sponsors. S/he/they will also serve as a primary liaison a core group of volunteers. The ideal candidate will be personable, highly motivated, database-savvy, with demonstrated organizational skills and the capacity to deal with multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Sense of humor required.

Qualifications include:

• Well-organized with impeccable attention to detail
• Experience in office administration required, non-profit fundraising or personal/professional background in the arts preferred
• Advanced computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel
• High level of comfort working with databases, Audience View a plus
• Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience


Office Hours:  Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. Evening and weekend work will be required as dictated by special events, fundraising initiatives, and meetings.

Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time, ability to lift and carry heavy objects (usually between 20-50 pounds) on a periodic basis
